Railroad Photography
I’ve loved trains since I was a little kid. The site of a large steam locomotive, sound of the whistle and the aroma of steam and smoke was like nothing I had ever seen. Having the experience in commercial studio lighting and the inspiration of old time railroad photographers such as O. Winston Link, I’ve enjoyed photographing trains to create images of a bygone era with a modern look.
Dramatic lighting is a major part of my technique. Its not where the light is, but more importantly, where it isn’t. Adding in actors and props helps enhance the scene even more. My ultimate goal is to create a picture that even the most train railfan’s eye may think was taking in 1950.
